Final Project: Annotated Bibliography on a Topic in the Sciences
Due by 5pm, Friday, March 10
This final project is an annotated bibliography on a topic of your choice related to Science and Applied Technology.
To help guide your search for information, you will need to narrow your topic to create a focused research question.
Your reference list/bibliography should include:
- An APA formatted title page for a research paper with your identifying information See: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01
- Your research question that your sources address will be the title of your paper (see CQ Researcher for examples of research questions).
- ten sources in correct APA bibliographic format. These sources should be quality sources and include a diverse mix of books, ebooks, articles from periodicals, journals, videos, newspapers and credible websites. No more than 2 citations from any 1 source.
- Ten citations listed in alphabetical order by the authors’ last names or by title if there is no author.
- an annotation of two or three sentences which provides a brief summary of what the source is about and how it relates to your topic.
Examples of annotated bibliographies are located at the OWL website http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/614/03 and at Cornell University Library website http://www.library.cornell.edu/olinuris/ref/research/skill28.htm#sample.

enhancing student interactivity in an online environment. College
Teaching 54(1), 190- 193.
The authors believe that online education can be as effective as face-to-face courses. In this article the authors suggest several specific strategies for promoting interactivity in online courses. The ideas introduced are practical and may be utilized and adapted by almost any online instructor.
Sims, R. (2003). Promises of interactivity: Aligning learner perceptions and
expectations with strategies for flexible and online learning. Distance
Education 24(1), 87-103.
Sims reports the results of his qualitative study about the different ways that interactivity is perceived, and how interactivity benefits online learning. His study results reveal that students are able to articulate what they expected in an interactive online learning environment, interactivity has a strong theoretical base, and provides benefits to learning. Although the number of participants in this study is small, the design is strong, and online instructors can learn about the best uses of interactivity in online courses.
Please use the model shown above to structure and format your final annotated bibliography! Remember to double space and use hanging indentation on your citations!
